PIKEVILLE FAMILY OF 9 ESCAPE BURNING HOME

A family of nine was able to escape a fire Saturday morning which wiped out their Pikeville home. Charlene Meeker told reporters that they made it out of the flaming structure minutes before the roof collapsed. She says that after she had just fallen asleep Saturday morning, she heard a banging on the door and the fire alarm went off. Meeker was able to get everyone out of the home including six grandchildren ranging from ages 2-10. Fire officials have not determined the cause of the blaze.
