PLANNED POWER OUTAGE FOR FAIRFIELD AND WEST FAIRFIELD SUBSTATIONS AT 4 P.M. TODAY

A planned power outage by the Volunteer Electric Cooperative (VEC) is scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM Central Time today, affecting members served by the Fairfield and West Fairfield Substations. The outage is needed to repair a VEC transmission line and is expected to last approximately two hours. Residents in the Fairfield Glade area, particularly those in the affected substations, should take necessary precautions as the exact scope of the outage is not fully known. Notifications are being sent to impacted members; anyone who believes they should have received one but did not is encouraged to update their contact information in SmartHub or contact the local office.

During the outage, traffic signals may become inoperative and should be treated as four-way stops. Drivers are advised to come to a complete stop at intersections, yield to the vehicle on the right if arriving simultaneously, and proceed safely and orderly when it is their turn, while exercising extra caution since not all drivers may immediately recognize the situation. For more information, residents can call VEC’s toll-free number at 855-940-3927.
