There will be a planned power outage this Friday (October 27, 2023) beginning at 10 p.m. Central and ending Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 6 a.m. Central.

This was originally scheduled to take place on October 14 but was postponed.

The outage will affect those powered by the Lantana and Crossville substations in Cumberland County.

The outage is expected to last about 8 hours and is due to VEC moving two transmission lines as part of the TDOT Highway 127 South project. The outages will affect about 9,559 members.

Also, as part of the TDOT Highway 127 South project, two brief outages will be planned for the Crab Orchard substation. The first outage will be Friday night, October 27, 2023, beginning at 10 p.m. and ending at 10:30 p.m. Central. The second outage will be on Saturday, October 28, 2023, beginning at 5:30 a.m. and ending at 6 a.m. Central.

These planned outages are to allow switching for the TDOT 69kv line construction for Lantana that same evening. Members in this outage will only be out twice during this event for no more than 30 minutes each time.

OUTAGE TIPS

• Keep freezers and refrigerators closed.
• Place frozen water bottles or gallons of water in the refrigerator to keep the temperature low.
• Do not use a gas stove or gas oven to heat your home.
• Have alternate plans for refrigerating medicines or using power-dependent medical devices.
