POLICE INVESTGATING TWO EXPLOSIONS IN CITY PARKS

The Oak Ridge Police Department is requesting the public’s help for tips regarding two explosions at area parks. Officers responded this past Monday to an explosion at Milt Dickens Park and found a small crater there from a detonation. Investigators said two Caucasian males were seen running into the woods after the incident. The second incident took place near Blankenship Field. Officers found a concrete picnic table they said looked like it had been damaged as a result of an over-pressure or impact-related event. A witness told police they had seen a black vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed just after the incident happened. Police said no physical evidence at the scene indicated an explosion had occurred. Anyone with information on the incidents was asked to contact the Oak Ridge Police Department at (865) 425-3503 during business hours, or (865) 425-4399 after business hours.
