A father in Whitley County, Kentucky is in jail after an altercation with his son turned violent yesterday (Friday, July 21, 2017). Whitley County deputies were called out to a home on Nicky Lane after a report of a son and father fighting. Through an investigation, they determined that a verbal argument escalated into a physical confrontation. Deputies say the son sustained injuries to his head and hand after the father reportedly struck him with a hammer.The victim was transported to Baptist Health in Corbin, Kentucky for treatment of injuries. Officers arrested 57-year-old William Helbig for first-degree assault.
