POMONA WOMAN INDICTED FOR ABUSING CHILD ON VIDEO
According to a report by the Crossville Chronicle, Winterann Marie Porter, a 24-year-old woman from Pomona Road in Cumberland County, Tennessee, was indicted by the county grand jury on charges of aggravated assault and child abuse of a child age 8 or younger. The alleged incident occurred in October, where surveillance video reportedly showed Porter smacking her 4-year-old daughterβs arms, grabbing the child by the throat, choking and shaking her, then tossing her aside while cursing at her.
According to the indictment, Porterβs actions placed the child in imminent danger of death, bodily injury, or physical or mental impairment. Following an investigation by Cumberland County Sheriffβs Deputy Ron Fields and Investigator Sgt. Dustin Jackson, Porter was arrested the same day, posted a $40,000 bond, and had previously appeared in General Sessions Court.
She is scheduled to appear in Criminal Court on Tuesday before Judge Shawn Fry, where she is expected to enter a not-guilty plea and indicate whether she will retain private counsel or request a court-appointed attorney.
The charges remain allegations, and Porter is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt through due process of law.
