PRELIMINARY AUTOPSY REPORT SAYS MICHAEL CARNOCK WAS STRUCK BY BOAT

Missing Maryland swimmer Michael Carnock, whose body was discovered Friday afternoon, was struck by a boat, according to preliminary autopsy results. In a Saturday press conference, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officials said Carnock’s injuries were “consistent” with his having been struck by a boat. The question now is the timing of the strike: whether the boat strike caused his death or if Carnock was struck after he died, possibly by drowning. TWRA and the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office are seeking the public’s help with information about Carnock’s death. Anyone who was out on Tellico Lake May 15 – the day Carnock disappeared – is asked to call TWRA at 800-831-1174.

“Imagine if that was one of your loved ones, hit undoubtedly by a vessel,” TWRA public-information officer Matt Cameron said. “You’d want to know who was responsible.”
