PRELIMINARY HEARING SET FOR KINGSTON WOMAN CHARGED WITH ABUSE OF INFANT CORPSE

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 12, 2024, for a Kingston woman charged with abusing the corpse of her infant child.

Police responded last Saturday to a home on the 900 block of Rosedale Avenue after two 911 hangups and encountered 34-year-old Amanda Hope Cooper.

Court documents state Cooper reportedly took an illegal drug before she gave birth on a toilet. Cooper told law enforcement the infant was her fourth child. She does not have custody of the other three.

Officers found the deceased baby wrapped in two towels lying in a bed behind a couch Cooper was sitting on.

The report states there was blood splattered around the house and on Cooper’s legs.

Cooper reportedly admitted to law enforcement to regularly smoking heroin.

She is charged with abuse of a corpse.

She is being held in the Roane County jail under a $50,000 bond.
