According to officials, the helicopter carrying country music entertainer Troy Gentry experienced mechanical problems shortly before it crashed killing both the singer and pilot. Gentry was one half of the duo Montgomery Gentry and was on his way to perform at a show at a resort located at the Flying W Airport in Medford, New Jersey. Preliminary reports show that during communication with the ground crew, the pilot was making plans for an emergency landing while hovering in the air waiting for the fire department. The chopper crashed in a wooded area just south of the airport.
