PROPOSED BILL WANTS TO “DO AWAY WITH” MORE FIREARM’S REQUIREMENTS

There are those in the Tennessee legislature that want to make it even easier to carry handguns openly. The bill, the “Open Carry Firearms Freedom Act”, does away with having to take a firearms safety class or buy a permit. Lawmakers say that it would align the state with other state gun laws, but those against the law says it would do away with the safety issue of gun-handling. The bill says that you would not need a permit to carry openly but you would still need a permit for a concealed weapon, along with paying a fee and taking classes. The law has been proposed before and has been defeated. It will go before the Senate Judiciary Committee shortly.
