PUBLIC HEARING SET ON PROPOSED CUMBERLAND CO. BUDGET

A public hearing has been scheduled by the Cumberland County Budget Committee regarding the proposed fiscal year 2019-2020 budget. The public hearing will take place Monday, August 5, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. on the third floor of the old courthouse on Main Street in Crossville.
The county commission will then meet at 6 p.m. for a special session to vote on the proposed budget that is broken down into three resolutions.
Resolution 08-05-2019-1 would fix the tax levy in Cumberland County, Tennessee for the fiscal year starting July 1, 2019. It includes a general fund tax rate of $0.6411, a solid waste/sanitation fund tax rate of $0.1407, a general purpose school fund tax rate of $0.5410 and a general debt service fund tax rate of $0.2425 for a combined property tax rate of $1.5653. Cumberland County Finance Director Nathan Brock told 1057 News today that there is no property tax increase in this proposed budget.
Resolution 08-05-2019-2 deals with making appropriations for the various funds, departments, institutions, offices and agencies of Cumberland County, Tennessee for the year beginning July 1, 2019 and ending June 30, 2020.
Resolution 08-05-20190-3 is appropriations to non-profit charitable organizations of Cumberland County, Tennessee for the year beginning July 1, 2019 and ending June 30, 2020.
The proposed budget is broken down into the following categories:

Solid Waste/Sanitation – $2,577,947
Drugs Control Fund – $76,235
Other Special Revenue Fund – $10,000
Highway/Public Works Fund – $4,347,503
General Purpose School Fund – $59,227,773
Federal Programs – $4,345,559
Central Cafeteria Fund (schools) – $5,401,970
General Debt Service Fund – $6,510,786
