PUTNAM COUNTY MAN CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER

From the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office:
On Saturday, May 31, at approximately 12:45 pm, Putnam County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a reported stabbing that occurred near Jess Rodgers Rd. The caller who reported the incident said he had picked up an individual who had been stabbed, near the area, who was bleeding profusely. The caller then drove the victim to Wildwood Market where PCSO Sgt. Matt Duncan arrived and administered first aid until EMS was on scene.
When Deputy Due arrived on scene, the victim, Dennis Jackson, immediately identified his attacker as his nephew, Daniel Jackson. According to Dennis Jackson, both he and Daniel Jackson reside at the same location. Daniel Jackson began acting erratically and attacked him with a sharp instrument before retrieving a shotgun from a nearby vehicle and attempted to shoot him. Dennis Jackson said that once Daniel Jackson realized the shotgun was unloaded, he discarded it into the nearby woods then fled on foot.
Deputies Due and Arrington were able to quickly locate Daniel Jackson as he was walking down Jess Rodgers Rd. Daniel Jackson was taken into custody immediately without any problems. PCSO Investigator Greg Etheredge responded to the scene, gathered evidence, and later conducted an interview with Daniel Jackson. During the interview, Daniel Jackson admitted to attacking his uncle with a small knife, hitting him, as well as choking him. Daniel Jackson also admitted that he attempted to assault Dennis Jackson with a shotgun before throwing it, in an attempt to hide the firearm in the woods. Daniel Jackson stated he was behaving this way because he believed Dennis Jackson possessed money that belonged to him, and he wanted his money back.
Daniel Jackson has been charged with:
  • • 1 Count of Attempted First-Degree Murder
  • • 1 Count of Aggravated Robbery
  • • 1 Count of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon
He has a total bond of 1.2 Million Dollars and a court date of June 11, 2025.
