PUTNAM COUNTY MOTHER ARRESTED IN CONNECTION TO DEATH OF 2-YEAR-OLD SON

Law enforcement in Putnam County arrested a mother concerning the death of her 2-year-old son.

Officers say Sara Mora was taken into custody Friday and charged with accessory after the fact for helping her boyfriend flee from law enforcement.

On December 2, 2023, deputies responded to J D Randolph Road and found the toddler unresponsive. During an interview, police said 22-year-old Ashton Cole Sensing admitted to getting upset with the child throughout the day while babysitting and throwing the child into a wall.

The toddler, 2-year-old Ventura Mora-Francisco, was taken to Cookeville Regional Medical Center and then transported to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. The child had suffered a major traumatic brain injury.

The doctors said the child’s injury was inoperable and not survivable.

The child passed away three days later.

On December 13, law enforcement announced that 22-year-old Ashton Cole Sensing, Mora’s boyfriend, was wanted in connection with the child’s death. Sensing was babysitting Ventura when the incident occurred.

Mora told deputies she took Sensing to an undisclosed location in Ashland City and later brought him back to Putnam County.

Sensing was arrested on December 14 for first-degree murder of a child and aggravated child abuse.
