PUTNAM FIREFIGHTERS RESPOND TO CARRS CHAPEL ROAD RESIDENTIAL FIRE

Putnam County, TN — On Thursday, February 5, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the Putnam County Fire Department was dispatched to the 7000 block of Carrs Chapel Road for a reported residential fire.
Heavy black smoke was visible from several miles away. Upon arrival, crews found a camper and a barn fully involved in fire, with flames spreading to a nearby residence.
Firefighters made a quick, aggressive attack on the residence in an effort to stop the spread and contain the fire to the area of involvement. Crews were able to limit damage to the home primarily to the area of origin, with some extension related to fire suppression efforts.
The barn and camper were a total loss. The residence sustained moderate damage. Firefighters also successfully prevented the fire from spreading to an additional structure located behind the barn.
Crews remained on scene for approximately three hours and utilized more than 10,000 gallons of water to extinguish the fire. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined at this time.
