PUTNAM TRAFFIC STOP UNCOVERS DRUG HAUL; WOMAN CHARGED WITH FELONIES

On February 18, 2026, deputies from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a Nissan Frontier at the intersection of Baxter Road and Cookeville Boat Dock Road after observing the vehicle failing to maintain its lane and crossing over the double yellow lines twice.

Upon making contact with the occupants, deputies noticed a woman in the rear passenger seat, later identified as Megan Webb, with her pants unbuttoned and open while appearing to reach into the front of them. Despite verbal commands to show her hands, she continued the motion. Next to her, officers observed burnt tin foil with brown and white residue, a lighter, and a cut straw.

Webb was removed from the vehicle and admitted to attempting to hide paraphernalia. A search revealed a clear plastic bag containing white powder concealed in her waistband, and she later acknowledged that additional narcotics were hidden inside her body.

She was transported to the Putnam County Jail, where a strip search uncovered a small bag with eight Xanax pills, approximately 30 grams of a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine, and about 10 grams of a white powdery substance believed to be fentanyl.

Megan Webb, 29, of Baxter, was arrested and charged with manufacture, delivery, sale, or possession of fentanyl; manufacture, delivery, sale, or possession of methamphetamine; manufacture, delivery, sale, or possession of Xanax; tampering with evidence; and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $110,000, with a court date scheduled for March 4, 2026.

Sheriff Farris commented that the traffic stop highlighted the value of proactive patrolling by deputies, noting that the quantity of fentanyl recovered could have caused devastating harm to the community, and reaffirming his commitment to removing illegal narcotics from Putnam County streets.
