RADIANT INVESTS IN TENNESSEE FOR WORLD’S FIRST PORTABLE NUCLEAR GENERATOR

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, alongside Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter and Radiant officials, announced a $280 million investment by Radiant to establish nuclear manufacturing and research and development operations in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
This initiative will create 175 new jobs in Roane County, supporting the development and mass production of Radiant’s Kaleidos, the world’s first one-megawatt portable nuclear generator designed for remote areas, military bases, and disaster-relief scenarios. Radiant is the sixth company to leverage Tennessee’s $70 million Nuclear Energy Fund, initially established with $50 million in the 2023-2024 budget and supplemented by $10 million in both 2024 and 2025.
The decision to locate in Oak Ridge was driven by the area’s skilled workforce, nuclear heritage, high nuclear expertise, and Tennessee’s business-friendly environment, which provides regulatory certainty. Local leaders, including Roane County Executive Wade Creswell and Oak Ridge Mayor Warren Gooch, emphasized the alignment of Radiant’s mission with the region’s nuclear legacy and its role in strengthening Tennessee’s position as a hub for advanced nuclear technologies.
The project is expected to enhance job creation, attract further investment, and contribute to long-term economic prosperity in the region.
