3rd District Cumberland County Commissioner Rebecca Stone submitted a letter of intent to resign to Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster last week.

The letter also said she is resigning due to the needs of a family member requiring great care, believing she is no longer able to provide the 3rd district with her full attention. Stone’s letter requested an opening be posted as soon as possible, so a transition would be as smooth as possible.

Stone will continue as commissioner until a replacement is appointed.

Stone has been part of the County Commission for the past ten years and also held the role of the budget committee’s chairwoman. Stone said she felt honored to represent Cumberland County’s 3rd district.
