A bill which would allow Tennessee adults to attend state community colleges for free is expected to be signed by the governor. The Reconnect Act passed the General Assembly this week. Gov. Haslam is expected to sign the legislation which is part of his Drive to 55 initiative. The goal is to get 55 percent of state residents with some type of post-secondary education. TNPromise was enacted two years ago. That plan allows high school students to attend community colleges tuition-free.
