RECORD SETTING AMOUNT SPENT ON TENNESSEE’S U.S.SENATE RACE
A state record of $93 million plus was spent last month in the race for the U.S.Senate seat won by Republican Marsha Blackburn. According to open campaign finance reports, Blackburn spent about $16 million while her opponent Democrat Phil Bredesen dished out $19 million in his bid for the seat. Independent groups laid out just over $31million to aid Blackburn while Bredesen’s groups spent a little over$26 million. All told, $48 million was spent for Blackburn while Bredesen’s camp spent $46 million.
