REINKING PLEADS NOT GUILTY IN WAFFLE HOUSE MURDERS

As victims’ family members and Waffle House employees looked on, lawyers for Travis Reinking, accused in the 2018 killings of four and the wounding of four others inside an Antioch Waffle House, entered a not-guilty plea on his behalf in a Nashville courtroom this morning.

Reinking, who is accused of opening fire on April 22 of last year at the restaurant, faces a total of 17 felony charges, including four counts of first-degree murder and four additional counts of attempted first-degree murder. After 30 hours on the run, Reinking was captured in the woods near Old Hickory Boulevard and Hobson Pike.

The Middle Tennessee Health Institute in Nashville found Reinking competent to stand trial October 30. Reinking had been treated there last year.
