REMAINS OF GREENE COUNTY WW2 SOLDIER RETURNS HOME
The remains of a World War 2 soldier that was finally identified are returning to his Tennessee home. 20-year-old Army Pfc. Reece Gass of Greeneville was stationed in Belgium with the 3rd Armored Division in 1945 when his tank was blown up by enemy fire. A body was discovered in the burned-out tank shell in 1947, however it was unable to be identified until earlier this year. Gass had been interred at the American Cemetery in Luxembourg. A full military burial will be held at Cross Anchor Cemetery in Greeneville Sunday.
