While on patrol on Highway 70 West Saturday, a Cumberland County deputy reportedly observed a driver traveling at over 80 miles per hour in a 55 zone. The officer caught up to and conducted a traffic stop on 38-year-old MacKenzie Lee Pritchard of Sparta . When asked why he was going fast, the report indicates Pritchard replied “people were shooting at him with a machine gun.” Pritchard was arrested for reckless driving.
