REWARD INCREASING FOR INFORMATION LEADING TO ARREST OF BLOUNT COUNTY MURDER SUSPECT
The reward is increasing for information leading law enforcement to capture 42-year-old Kenneth DeHart. It now stands at over $70,000.
He is a suspect accused of shooting and killing a Blount County Sheriff’s Office deputy and injuring another last night.
Deputy Greg McCowan lost his life, and Deputy Shelby Eggers was wounded after they stopped DeHart.
As of 1 p.m. Eastern today, DeHart remains at large. At this time, there is no known clothing description and no known direction of travel
The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a $10,000 reward, Blount County is offering another $10,000, East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers are offering $2,000 and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is offering up to $2,500. Knox County officials also said they are matching Blount County’s reward, adding another $10,000.
Smith & Wesson CEO Mark Smith is also throwing in $40,000 for any information.
DeHart also has a criminal history. Officials with the Tennessee Department of Corrections confirmed that Dehart was previously sentenced for felony aggravated assault and felony reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon.
