ROACHES AND NON-WORKING FIRE ALARMS FOUND AT RHEA COUNTY HOTEL

On September 9, 2025, a routine inspection at America’s Best Value Inn located at 7875 Rhea Co Hwy in Dayton resulted in a score of 70. The inspection revealed several violations requiring corrective actions.
Among the larger offenses, a live roach was found in room 107, necessitating treatment by a licensed exterminator within 10 days; unlabeled chemical bottles and insecticide were improperly stored near clean linens in the laundry room; and room 116 had a non-functional fire alarm and lacked an evacuation plan.
Among the lesser offenses, there were structural issues, including a broken downspout on the south side of the building, and the premises had cigarette butts and ashes on the sidewalk. In room 116, the bathtub caulk was dirty, the microwave interior was stained, a chair was soiled under the cushion, and the bathroom floor and walls were dirty. Room 107 also had dirty walls and lacked clothes hangers. Both rooms 116 and 107 did not have ice bags, and room 116, designated as non-smoking, lacked a “no smoking” sign.
