A minor parking lot bump escalated into a high-stakes police response on September 15, 2026, after a driver and a couple traded accusations of reckless behavior and brandished firearms across the city.

According to Crossville Police Department reports, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Genesis Road and Wayne Avenue regarding a possible hit-and-run. The reporting party alleged that a passenger in a Scion X8 opened her door and struck his vehicle while parked outside a restaurant on Main Street.

The caller reported that he followed the vehicle to gather license plate information, eventually pulling in behind the Scion at a local medical center parking lot on Genesis Road. He claimed that when he stopped to speak with the occupants, the driver pointed a black handgun at him through the car window.

However, the driver and passenger provided a different account to responding officers. They stated that the passenger immediately apologized for the accidental door ding. Fearing for their safety as the caller began aggressively tailing them, they pulled into the parking lot to ask him to stop following. The driver admitted to pulling his handgun, stating he did so out of fear when the caller advanced on their vehicle.

Surveillance video reviewed by detectives corroborated that the caller pulled in at an angle in an aggressive manner, opened his door, and put a foot out onto the ground before the couple drove away. Video also confirmed the caller sped out of the lot to continue tracking them.

Police conducted a felony traffic stop on Route 127 North, safely detaining the occupants at gunpoint in a low-ready position before sorting out the conflicting stories. Authorities confirmed that no charges will be pressed at this time, and all surveillance footage has been secured as evidence.

As no charges were filed, those involved will go unnamed for the time being.
