ROANE COUNTY COMMISSION TO MEET TONIGHT
The Roane County Commission will meet this evening at 6:00 p.m. at the courthouse in Kingston. First up is a special called session to appoint someone to fill the School Board seat for District 2, created by the resignation of Shane Best. The commission will take nominations from the floor of commissioners, as well as from anyone who may wish to come before the commission to be appointed to the School Board District 2 seat.After the special called session to appoint a School Board member filling the vacancy in District 2, the regular agenda will include public comments, the county attorney’s report, and county executive support, which will feature a presentation from Opioid Abatement Council members.
This will be followed by several appointments under special orders to certain boards and new business. The commission will consider establishing the Committee on Committees, budget amendments, a resolution replacing the yield sign on Quarry Road with a stop sign, naming several roads as private drives, and a resolution supporting Operation Green Light for Veterans. There will also be one resolution to approve a 36-month agreement with BCN to replace three PER phone lines with internet and cellular backup connections for the courthouse and jail, and to authorize the transfer of real property located at 604 South Chamberlain Avenue in Rockwood to the city.
