ROANE COUNTY DEPUTIES CONDUCT SOBRIETY CHECKPOINTS
The Roane County Sheriff’s Department recently participated in a multi-agency sobriety checkpoint on Highway 27 at Delozier Lane. The goal of these checkpoints is to cut down on motorists driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. During a sobriety checkpoint, drivers are briefly detained and interviewed after which suspicious drivers are subject to sobriety tests. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), sobriety checkpoints have the potential to prevent nearly 1 out of 10 DUI-related deaths.
