ROANE COUNTY DEPUTIES RECOVER STOLEN PROPERTY DURING TRAFFIC STOP

Roane County Deputies were able to recover several items taken in a home burglary Tuesday. A male subject at a Sweetwater Road home told officers that his brother asked him to check the home because he had been contacted by Sweetwater Police concerning some stolen property. The man found that a padlock had been broken off the front door and that a boot containing an undisclosed amount of money, several car titles, keys and a Carhardt jacket had been stolen. A Stanley hammer was also discovered in a bedroom with the hammerhead matching the damage marks on the door facing and having fragments of wood matching the door. Deputies stated that William J. Abney Jr. of Ten Mile and Lena J. Moore had been stopped for a traffic violation. The stolen items were discovered in the vehicle and neither Abney or Moore could not explain how they acquired them. Both subjects were charged with aggravated burglary.
