If you’re employed by Roane County, you will be getting a sizeable bonus soon. Earlier this week, Commissioners approved an estimated $124,000 in this year’s budget to be able to cover the $1000 per employee bonus. The funds were allocated by the Budget Committee and were a special surplus intended for the payout. All employees, except those on salaries, will see the money in the next pay period. Also, County Executive Ron Woody told the commission that he had been approached by the owner of the Dollar General Store adjacent to the county jail. The owner stated that he is possibly relocating the store in the near future. In the past, the county had eyed the purchase of the store in order to expand the detention facility. A committee has been formed in order to address the subject.
