Several fire units were seen rushing to what was described as a large plume of smoke on Decatur Highway south of Kingston around 2 p.m. today. Most units were canceled in route when South Roane County Fire Personnel arrived at the scene and stated the property owner had a permit to burn and had everything under control even though it was about a 5-acre fire with smoke seen from miles away State Forestry did issue burn permits today
