ROANE COUNTY FIREFIGHTERS BATTLE THREE RAPID-SPREADING BRUSH FIRES IN ONE DAY
The South Roane County Volunteer Fire Department responded to three fire-related calls yesterday amid challenging dry and windy conditions that cause brush fires to spread rapidly, turning even small burn piles into serious threats to homes, woodlands, and lives. The first two incidents occurred during an all-day training session, while the third came just as many volunteers had finally returned home to their families for the evening, prompting them to respond immediately once again.
As an all-volunteer organization, members balance full-time jobs, ongoing training, and family responsibilities, yet they prioritize containing fires, protecting property, and ensuring firefighter safety over publicizing every call. The department emphasized the critical importance of their rigorous training in handling such demands.
To help prevent future incidents, they urged the community to avoid outdoor burning during dry weather, remain mindful of wind conditions, report any fires promptly by calling 911, and consider supporting their efforts through donations. They concluded by reaffirming their commitment to readiness and wishing South Roane County residents safety.
