A Roane County man has passed away from injuries sustained after being hit by a train back on January 12. Officers say 18-year-old Thomas King of Rockwood was flown to U.T. Medical Center after being hit by the Norfolk Southern train at the old Dunn Street railroad crossing behind Evans Mortuary. Right after the incident, medics and officers arrived to find King down beside the tracks on the east side and noticed he was still alive. Lifestar landed on Gateway Avenue at Dunn Street to transport King to Knoxville. After a courageous battle with the many injuries he sustained, King passed away at U.T. Medical Center.
