ROANE COUNTY MAN SAID HE’D “NEVER SEEN” THE DRUGS FOUND IN HIS PANTS POCKET
Monday morning, Roane County deputies received a BOLO for 45-year-old David James Johnson, said to be in a black Toyota Camry in the Midtown area, without a valid driver’s license and in possession of meth. Johnson’s license was suspended for failure to appear.
Upon noticing the vehicle on Roane State Highway, deputies initiated a traffic stop and asked Johnson to exit the vehicle. A search of Johnson turned up a white plastic container with a plastic bag of meth weighing 1.62 grams. Johnson said the container, which was found in his pocket, did not belong to him and he had never seen it before. A subsequent search revealed a plastic bag with .42 grams of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana.
A search of Johnson’s vehicle netted a piece of rolled-up aluminum foil containing two spoons with residue and a syringe.
Johnson was charged with driving on a suspended license; manufacture, sale, delivery or possession of meth; unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, and simple possession or casual exchange of marijuana.
