ROANE COUNTY PASSES NEW BUDGET WITH NO PROPERTY TAX INCREASE
The Roane County Commission officially approved the county’s new budget during a public hearing and special-called meeting Thursday evening at the Roane County Courthouse.
The most notable takeaway for local residents? No property tax increase.
According to County Executive Wade Creswell, the county was able to avoid raising property taxes thanks to steady, continued economic growth. This influx of new revenue has successfully offset rising operational costs and inflationary pressures currently facing the county government.
The meeting, which began at 6 p.m., allowed for citizen comments before commissioners moved to cast their votes and grant final approval to the fiscal plan.
