The Roane County Rescue Squad was dispatched yesterday afternoon around 2:15 to assist two individuals in a boat that they reported was sinking just off Cove Point Lane near the Eagle Furnace community.

The occupants were able to reach shore safely on their own, and the squad responded to help retrieve the vessel back to shore.

No injuries were reported.
