Roane County Road Superintendent Dennis Ferguson applied for and received funding for a State Street Aid Grant which is 98% state funded and 2% county funded. This was possible after State Senator Ken Yager sponsored the bill making paving aid possible for rural counties. With this grant, Roane County road crews conducted paving on Poplar Creek and Bluff Road. The amount for Poplar Creek was just over $351,00 while the amount for Bluff Road was around $126,800.
