ROANE DEPUTIES ENGAGED IN STANDOFF IN SMOKE RISE

A standoff occurred in the Smoke Rise subdivision south of Rockwood on Saturday evening resulting in one person being flown out by Life Star.

According to Roane County Chief Deputy Tim Phillips, deputies were called there after a female inside a home was threatening to harm herself with a knife.

The standoff lasted around an hour before the female who allegedly cut herself in the neck was taken from the home, and transported by ambulance to a waiting Life Star in Midtown.

She survived and was taken to a hospital for mental evaluation. No further details are currently available.
