ROANE FIRE AGENCIES RESPOND TO FIRE ON RURITAN RD. ON SATURDAY

BBBTV12 – Multiple fire agencies in Roane County, including Harriman Fire Department, responded to assist Midtown Fire Department with a structure fire on Ruritan Road this past Saturday afternoon. The incident prompted a temporary shutdown of the highway as crews worked to contain the blaze.
The fire occurred at an abandoned building, reported to be the old furniture store located near Piney Grove Cemetery. Harriman Utility crews were dispatched to cut power to the structure as a precaution.
Firefighters from several county agencies worked together to bring the fire under control, which took approximately two hours. Heavy black smoke was visible from the area throughout the incident.
While the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, no injuries were reported. Fire crews returned to the scene earlier today to investigate lingering smoke around the building. Officials confirmed that while the fire may continue to smolder for some time, it poses no threat of spreading further.
