ROANE FIREFIGHTERS RESPONDED TO YESTERDAY’S PAINT ROCK FERRY ROAD BRUSH FIRE
Multiple fire department units responded to a woods and brush fire on Victoria Road, east of Kingston off Paint Rock Ferry Road, yesterday afternoon around 1:30 p.m. Firefighters from the emergency operations center were among the first on the scene and were assisted by other local volunteer fire agencies and forestry personnel to bring the blaze under control.
Several acres of wooded area near the creek were burned, but there were no injuries and no structures were damaged. Crews remained on scene until shortly after 5 p.m. to fully contain the fire.
Separately, around 4 p.m. the same day, an outside burn got out of control on Catse Road near Rockwood, prompting several firefighting units to respond to that brush fire. A shed was reported to be on fire at that location.
