ROANE STATE AND MTSU PARTNER TO CREATE SEAMLESS TRANSFER PATHWAYS FOR AEROSPACE AND FIRE SCIENCE STUDENTS

Roane State Community College, Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), and Tennessee Flight Training have officially signed new articulation agreements to streamline the transfer process for students pursuing degrees in aerospace and fire science.

Presidents from the participating institutions gathered at Roane State’s Cumberland County campus to sign the agreements. The new pathways guarantee that qualified community college students can transfer to MTSU with clearly defined course equivalencies and academic plans leading to a bachelor’s degree.

Expanding Aviation and Public Safety Opportunities

  • Aerospace Pathway: Students completing an Associate of Science in aerospace at Roane State can transfer directly into MTSU’s Bachelor of Science in Aerospace program. Options include concentrations in Flight Dispatch, Aviation Management, Unmanned Aircraft Systems Operations, Unmanned Aircraft Systems Technology, and Professional Pilot.

  • Tennessee Flight Training Collaboration: As part of the aerospace agreement, students gain access to Tennessee Flight Training’s certified flight instructors, advanced simulators, and the state’s largest aircraft fleet to blend academic learning with practical flight experience.

  • Fire Science Pathway: A second agreement connects Roane State’s Associate of Applied Science in Fire Science Technology with MTSU’s Bachelor of Science in Integrated Studies with a concentration in Public Safety. Delivered entirely online, this pathway targets careers in fire service, emergency management, and homeland security.

Leadership from all institutions praised the collaboration, emphasizing a shared commitment to accessible higher education and smooth transitions for students entering high-demand fields across Tennessee.
