ROANE STATE OPENS NEW PERMANENT FENTRESS COUNTY CAMPUS NAMED FOR LOCAL LEADERS
Roane State Community College has officially opened its new permanent home in Jamestown—the Ken Yager & Jimmy Johnson Building—marking a major expansion of higher education and workforce training in Fentress County.
The state-of-the-art, 49,000-square-foot facility replaces a former temporary location in Clarkrange and brings together Roane State and the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Oneida/Huntsville under one roof.

Honoring Key Leaders: The facility is named in recognition of Tennessee State Senator Ken Yager and Fentress County Executive Jimmy Johnson, whose dedicated advocacy, legislative efforts, and land-securing initiatives brought the permanent campus to fruition.

Comprehensive Programs: The campus offers associate degrees and industry certificates designed to prepare job-ready students for high-demand fields, including health sciences, automotive and diesel technology, welding, construction, and manufacturing technology.

Location & Classes: Classes at the new campus (located at 823 Old Highway 127 S in Jamestown) are currently underway, following a ribbon-cutting celebration.
College leaders emphasize that the modern facility is engineered to directly serve local workforce needs, boost the regional economy, and provide lasting educational opportunities for generations of Fentress County students.
