ROBERTS CHARGED WITH RECKLESS DRIVING AND SIMPLE POSSESSION OF DRUGS

While on patrol yesterday on Highway 70 North, a Cumberland County deputy observed a vehicle approaching and passed by him in the opposite lane at a high rate of speed. The officer turned around and later encountered the driver, 20-year-old Garret Blaine Roberts of Crossville, at the corner of Plateau Road and Highway 70 North.

When he asked Roberts why he was speeding, Roberts reportedly replied he โ€œdid not have a good excuse and didnโ€™t think the deputy could catch him.โ€ The officer documented Roberts then said he was traveling at 80 to 90 miles per hour since he got on the highway heading to a friendโ€™s home.

A check of the vehicle Roberts was in allegedly revealed a small amount of marijuana.

Roberts was arrested for reckless driving and simple possession of drugs.
