ROBINSON JAILED FOR AGGRAVATED DOMESTIC ASSAULT

In the wake of an incident reported last Friday, Cumberland County deputies arrested and charged 38-year-old Cory B. Robinson of Crossville with felony aggravated domestic assault. Robinson was said to have assaulted his ex-girlfriend in the parking lot of Sawmill Market, where she had gone to meet a friend. According to the arrest report, the woman said Robinson had told her, “Next time I see you, I am going to kill you.”

The woman said she had a knife on her for protection and when she pulled it, Robinson took it away.

At the emergency room, officers noted marks around her neck consistent with strangulation, along with cuts on her hand and leg from a knife involved in the altercation.

Deputies contacted Robinson at his home Sunday and placed him under arrest on a warrant for aggravated domestic assault.

At the justice center, Robinson presented an entirely different account of the proceedings. He said the woman had stolen a television, Xbox and his wife’s car, then went to meet up with the friend to sell him meth. Robinson said he got a ride to the Sawmill Market and when he saw the woman there, he approached her to get his keys and belongings back. He said she pulled a knife and when he tried to take it away, it cut his finger, as well as her hand and leg.

Robinson was placed under $10,000 bond and is due in court March 11.
