Rockwood City Council members, Mayor Jason Jolly, and City Staff met in their regular meeting on Monday night August 26th, and approved giving property owners who pay their taxes within 30 days after getting their notices, to receive a 2% discount if paid within the 30 days. Also, the council approved allowing the police department to hire anyone under 21 but over 18 if they’ve gone to the academy and fit all the criteria.

The Rockwood Council also finalized its agreement with Rockwood Aviation LLC to operate the Rockwood Municipal Airport for the next several years and as well as takeover several of the hangers for lease agreements.

Two other items the Rockwood Council approved was deciding to open bids for the repaving of the parking lot in front of the library, police, and fire station. Three bids were opened and a committee is set up to make sure all the particulars are in order after the City Attorney looks them over to see which one they will select. Finally, Dante Inman was hired as a full-time employee with the Parks and Recreation Department.
