ROCKWOOD CITY COUNCIL TO CONSIDER ELIMINATING CIVIL SERVICE BOARD
The Rockwood City Council will meet this Monday evening, November 24, at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall. One item that may appear on the agenda is a proposal to abolish the city’s civil service board.
Eliminating the board may not be as simple as a single motion, however, because the city charter would likely need to be amended—a process that requires a private act from the Tennessee state legislature in Nashville.
Rockwood is currently the only city in Roane county that still maintains a civil service board, which hears employee grievances and resolves disputes with the city.
