The Rockwood City Council is set to hold its regular meeting this Monday, September 28, at 6:00 p.m. at Rockwood City Hall. The public is invited to attend, and an opportunity for public comments is scheduled early in the session following the approval of the August 31 meeting minutes, city financial reports, and committee updates.

While the agenda contains no old business, lawmakers face a busy new business docket. Key items include the first reading of a proposed zoning amendment that would shift a property on Clymersville Road from medium-density to multi-family residential, alongside a new ordinance designed to offer discounts for early city property tax payments.

In addition, the council will weigh resolutions to authorize the hiring of a new police officer, reappoint Roger Powell to the Rockwood Golf Board, and enter the James L. Richardson Driver Matching Grant Program. Officials will also review an HVAC replacement quote for Fire Station Number Two and formally accept a TVA/REU Community Cares Grant slated for Rockwood Forest.

City leaders highlighted several upcoming community dates following the agenda items, including the Rockwood 2000 Political Forum on October 8, Main Street Monday on October 12, early voting from October 14 through October 29, the downtown Halloween Trunk or Treat on October 31, and Election Day on November 3.
