ROCKWOOD CITY COUNCIL UNANIMOUSLY APPROVES REZONING FOR 66-HOME SUBDIVISION
By Dudley Evans –
The Rockwood City Council voted unanimously during a special noon session today to approve a rezoning request for approximately 66 new single-family homes in the Clymersville community.
The approval clears the way for Knoxville-based Black Oak Construction to rezone a property section from R-2 to R-4 residential zoning. Representatives from Ingram Gore and Associates, LLC, were also on hand for site preparation questions, though none were raised during the public hearing.
Mayor Jason Jolly hailed the project as a major milestone for the city, noting it is the first new neighborhood development during his tenure.
-
Tax Impact: Mayor Jolly emphasized that the housing expansion will boost local tax revenue and strengthen the municipal tax base.
-
Next Steps: Site preparation work is expected to begin as soon as the property transfer is finalized, though an official construction timeline has not yet been announced.
