ROCKWOOD FIRE DEPARTMENT SECURES $36,000 STATE GRANT FOR LIFE-SAVING EQUIPMENT

The Rockwood Fire Department is upgrading its emergency response capabilities thanks to a newly awarded $36,000 grant from the State of Tennessee.

In a major win for local taxpayers, Fire Chief Matt Crabtree confirmed that the state grant requires zero matching funds from the City of Rockwood, allowing the department to fully fund the purchase of critical new equipment at no additional cost to residents.

According to Chief Crabtree, the new tools will provide firefighters with advanced, life-saving resources versatile enough for a wide range of emergency scenarios. The acquisition is expected to significantly boost the crew’s efficiency and readiness when responding to calls within the community.

Chief Crabtree says the new equipment will strengthen the department’s ability to protect residents and assist those in need during emergencies.

This state-funded upgrade follows another recent boost for the department. Just weeks ago, officials announced the purchase of separate emergency equipment funded by a $10,000 anonymous donation.

Chief Crabtree expressed deep gratitude for both the state funding and the ongoing generosity of the community, emphasizing that these combined contributions are vital to enhancing public safety and expanding the department’s overall operational capabilities.
