ROCKWOOD POLICE HIGHLIGHT NATIONAL TELECOMMUNICATORS WEEK; HONORS DEDICATED 911 DISPATCHERS
National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, observed annually during the second week of April, is a time to recognize and thank 911 dispatchers for their vital work. The observance was established in 1994 and signed into law by former President Bill Clinton. Its origins, however, date back to 1981, when it was first launched by a Sheriff’s Department before eventually gaining national recognition.
Rockwood Police expressed gratitude to the Roane County E-911 Dispatchers, highlighting their dedication and resilience. These professionals are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, often answering calls during some of the worst moments in people’s lives. They provide a steady, reassuring presence on the line, offering critical support until help arrives.
