ROCKWOOD TEEN SET FOR DOUBLE-LUNG TRANSPLANT
A 15-year-old Rockwood girl with cystic fibrosis is set to have a double-lung transplant and the community is rallying for her. Kaylie McNeal was first diagnosed with the condition when she was 2 weeks old. She takes daily treatments that lasts for hours. Her mother, Aundria McNeal says its been a real struggle. However, Kaylie has gotten some good news. She has been approved for a double-lung transplant at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. The price tag for the surgery alone is $800,000, and she has insurance, but there will be other expenses.
A GoFundMe Account has been established for Kaylie, and family and friends are sponsoring a series of fund-raisers. A soup dinner will be held on Saturday, February 2, at Rockwood High School, located at 512 W Rockwood St., from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A benefit auction is also being held on February 16 at 6:30 p.m. in Harriman at 1238 South Roane Street. Donations to be auctioned off can also be brought by that location Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
